You and your kids deserve to feel loved and supported as they grow to know Jesus
You want your children to develop character and have a sense of belonging. Finding a community to share in nurturing your kids’ faith and moral development can be tough!
You don’t have to do this by yourself. We want to share in the joy and the journey with you with a “whole family” approach.

Sundays at Rocky Mount UMC
10:00 AM Small Groups
Age 4 – Second Grade Through story-based lessons with activities and games, your child will learn the foundations of faith, such as prayer and the books of the Bible, and the overarching story of Jesus’ love for them and all people.
Third – Seventh Grade As your child grows, so does their curiosity! Through video and hands-on lessons, your child will continue to learn about Jesus through the Bible, Christian history and traditions, and how they can follow Christ throughout their week.

Children of all ages can attend the worship service. More opportunities during that time:
- Children’s Time with Pastor Keith early in the service.
- Children age 4 – third grade leave for Children’s Church
- Nursery is available throughout small groups and worship.
Nursery - 3 Years & Under
Open from 9:30 am to after the worship service concludes, your child will enjoy their time in this engaging, secure space.
- Age-appropriate lessons and loving care
- Cribs and changing tables for infants
- Private nursing area also available

Wonderful Wednesdays
Music, theater, and fun!
Children age 4 – fifth grade gather for Wonderful Wednesdays from 5 – 6:30 pm, September – May. A light dinner is provided. Led by Director of Music, Lynn Meeks, and volunteers, your child will:
- Learn how to sing
- Play beginner handbells
- Play a role in the annual Christmas and Spring children’s plays.

What safety measures do you have in place?
Rocky Mount UMC follows the United Methodist Safer Sanctuaries guidelines. All staff and volunteers working with children undergo background checks. As part of our safety policies, we also utilize check-in/check-out procedures and safety doors in the nursery, and outside doors are locked shortly after the service begins to provide further security.
How do I check my child into the Nursery on Sundays?
You’ll sign your child in before dropping them off. Only you or another trusted adult will be allowed to check them out.
What if my child has special needs?
Please let us know before your visit so we can make proper accommodations. We aim to provide an inclusive environment for all.
Are kids welcome in the worship service?
Absolutely! All enjoy the Children’s Time early in the service with Pastor Keith. Most go to Children’s Church afterward but are welcome to stay. We love having kids in worship – they are a part of the church! For nursing mothers who need a quiet place to care for their infant, we have a private nursing area in the nursery.
